Lusana Recertifies as a B Corp With Higher Impact Score

We are proud to announce that Lusana has successfully achieved recertification as a B Corporation, with a significant improvement in our overall B Impact Score—from 105.4 to 134.2. This milestone is not just a compliance checkpoint but a reflection of our continuous commitment to purpose-driven business and the deep responsibility we feel towards our customers and community.

Our B Impact Score is a comprehensive measure of our impact across five key areas: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. The improvement reflects real progress, especially in areas critical to Lusana’s values: governance, workers, and community. It also offers a tangible way for us and our customers to see how our decisions are mindful of our social and environmental impact.

Improving our B Impact Score

Starting at the business model

At the heart of Lusana’s operations is a business model designed to prioritize quality, integrity, and stakeholder well-being. Our made-to-order production process minimizes waste while allowing us to craft beautifully tactile pieces that celebrate the female form with care and intention.

As a majority woman-owned, family business rooted in both Australia and Indonesia, we have embedded a purpose and stakeholder consideration clause into our corporate framework. This ensures that every business decision reflects our commitment to benefiting workers, communities, and the environment—not just profit.

One example of how we put this into practice is by refusing overproduction-fueled models and instead setting a firm limit on the number of units we produce annually. In this way, we choose to measure our growth by value, rather than volume.

“Scaling for the sake of scale is not our strategy,” said Quinn Lovett, Chief Executive Officer of Lusana. “Because we are self-financed, we can decide how much is enough. Capping our units lets us protect quality, pay fairly, and provide our small-scale suppliers with stable, dignified work. Our goal is simple: make beautiful clothes that create good jobs and minimize our footprint.”

“Our collections start with people and place,” said Emma-Lee Lovett, Creative Director of Lusana. “By committing to small batches at a measured pace, we preserve hand skills, reduce waste, and deliver pieces our customers keep and wear. Containing growth is a creative choice as much as it is an ethical one.”

Our hyperlocal supplier network

Everything that we do is made possible through our hyperlocal supplier network. Since Lusana first began, we have forged collaborative partnerships with small-scale suppliers, including smallholder sewing collectives within 50km of our Bali facility. Our partnerships are built on fair pricing, multi-season agreements, and capacity-building through advances, premiums, and skills transfer initiatives. By nurturing these relationships, our goal is to support local economies and ensure that our supply chain reflects fairness, equity, and shared growth.

Beyond production, there are many other practices that have contributed to our B Corp recertification. When it comes to materials, for example: we take a natural-fibre-first approach and use non-toxic dyes, with ongoing improvements to water and chemical management. We also recycle throughout our supply chain and commit profit for purpose, donating 3% of profits to for-purpose initiatives.
